The Derlwyn Fishery is situated just outside the village of Tregaron beneath Caron-is-Clawdd mountain, about 12 miles north west of Lampeter and approximately 18 miles due south of Aberystwyth in an area of most pleasant natural beauty.

The fishery consists of approximately 1660 yards single right hand bank fishing. There are numerous lies and catches throughout its length.
The fishery is just downstream from Caron Bog which seems to purify the water as it usually runs very clear.

The River Teifi

The River Teifi is regarded by the Environment Agency as being a salmon and sewin (Sea trout) fishery of continued very high quality, being routinely among the top three or four rivers in Wales for its rod catches of both fish. The majority of the Teifi catchments is in the highest classification for water quality and classified as a SSSI and SAC.
The season for salmon and sewin is from 1st April to 17th October inclusive and that for brown trout from 1st April to 30th September inclusive. There are statutory bag limits of two salmon and four sewin per rod day and five salmon per rod week. In addition, as for the whole of England and Wales, all salmon hooked prior to 16th June must be returned to the water unharmed. The peak months for numbers of sewin are July and August although there are often still good catches in September. There are typically some larger sewin in late May and June. In recent years the peak period for salmon has normally been from early September until the end of the season although some fish run the river from the late spring, given suitable water conditions.
